Meander around a beautiful, reefy bottom inside Long Reef headland. Three distances on offer - 2km and 1km, and a 200m Dash for Cash, in which every entrant has a chance of a cash prize, given there's a random draw of all entrants of $50 Male/Female, as well as cash prizes for winners and placegetters. It's a noice ocean swim tradition, the random draw of the entire field. We may well enter ourselves, since we will have equal chance of winning as the quickest of fleet armed guns.

Long Reef is a relatively popular summer beach offering some protection from the summer nor' easters. In winter, it is exposed and often blown out, but very popular with windsurfers and kite surfers.

We say, it's an open beach with many breaks, and a reefy bottom which stretches to the horizon, or at least out to the tip of Long Reef Headland. This makes it a very pretty swim, for if the water is clear, then you're over reef pretty well all the way, yet inside the headland which gives it that nice, covey feel.
